Meet Bertu

Before he built Bertu's, Bertu Camilleri built a career in the ring, competing as one of Malta's boxing champions. He returned home in 1969 determined to give local fighters and lifters a proper training ground of their own.

On the 10th of October 1982, he opened the doors of what would grow into one of the island's pioneering gyms. In the decades since, the athletes who trained under his eye have gone on to represent Malta on the international stage, and the gym itself has become a fixture of the community around it.

That legacy was significant enough that in 2022, Lovin Malta and Videocafe produced a documentary tracing his life, his boxing career, and the institution he built.
